Senior officials from the Indian Armed Forces, policymakers, technology partners, and industry representatives are set to deliberate on the growing use of space technology in the defence sector at the fourth edition of the DefSat conference, scheduled to be held in New Delhi next week. The three-day event will take place at the Manekshaw Centre from February 24 to 26, highlighting the expanding role of space capabilities in strengthening national security and military preparedness.
According to SatCom Industry Association (SIA) India President Subba Rao Pavuluri, more than 50 countries worldwide are currently operating military or dual-use satellites, underlining the strategic importance of space technology in modern warfare. Around 500 delegates from nearly 20 countries, over 20 speakers, and representatives from nearly 60 organisations are expected to participate in DefSat-2026. The conference gains added significance as India has allocated ₹7.85 lakh crore to the defence sector in the 2026-27 Union Budget. SIA India Director General Anil Prakash stated that the allocation reflects India’s growing investment in proactive defence preparedness and advanced technological capabilities.
