For the upcoming calendar year (2026), the stock exchanges BSE and NSE have not released any list of market holidays. Despite festivals and other important days throughout the year, the stock market will not have 15 days of holidays. Equity trading, derivatives, and securities activities will continue uninterrupted on those days. Investors do not need to plan trading or investment strategies according to specific dates.
Republic Day on January 26, Holi on March 3, Sri Rama Navami on March 25, and Mahavir Jayanti on March 31 will not affect market operations.
Similarly, Good Friday (April 3), Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14), Maharashtra Day (May 1), Bakrid (May 28), and Moharram (June 26) will not result in stock market closures. Vinayaka Chavithi (September 14), Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), Dussehra (October 20), Diwali (November 10), Guru Nanak Jayanti (November 24), and Christmas (December 25) will not be market holidays either.
Even Maha Shivaratri (February 15), Eid-ul-Fitr (March 21), Independence Day (August 15), and Diwali Lakshmi Pooja (November 8) fall on weekends or Saturdays, so the stock market will not observe holidays. Murthy trading will still take place on Diwali Lakshmi Pooja, and the trading schedule will not be announced in advance.
