The Indian film industry is steadily expanding its reach towards a global audience, with filmmakers increasingly exploring international markets. As part of this effort, Yash’s Toxic was reportedly made in both Kannada and English simultaneously, aiming to connect with a wider global audience. The film was also released in international markets, including Hollywood, through Lionsgate. While the makers claimed that the film collected ₹150 crore worldwide on its opening day, reports suggest that its strongest response came primarily from the Hindi, Telugu and Kannada markets. However, there has been limited information about the film’s actual performance in Hollywood after its theatrical release.
The English version of Toxic is now said to have received a weaker-than-expected response in the Hollywood market. Industry discussions suggest that the English version may not have crossed the $1 million gross mark, raising questions about the film’s international box-office performance. Despite the reported setback, the attempt to create a major Indian film directly in English remains an ambitious experiment. Attention has now shifted to its OTT release, with fans eager to see whether Yash’s popularity can help Toxic gain greater traction among international audiences.
