Hyderabad Set to Get the World’s Largest Cricket Stadium

Telangana is preparing to add another major landmark to Hyderabad’s growing list of iconic structures, with plans for a massive cricket stadium in the state’s proposed Future City. The government is considering nearly 100 acres for the project and aims to make the venue larger than Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, currently regarded as India’s largest cricket stadium by seating capacity. Officials have begun exploring suitable locations, with connectivity to the Outer Ring Road, proposed Regional Ring Road, metro network and Hyderabad airport being key considerations.

The proposed stadium is expected to become a major sporting and tourism attraction in Future City. Apart from hosting international and domestic cricket matches, the venue is planned as a multipurpose facility that could accommodate football games and large-scale concerts. The state government is expected to allocate the land, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to bear construction and maintenance costs. The project is also being viewed as an opportunity to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a major sporting destination, although the timeline for completing such a large-scale project remains a key question.
