Google on Thursday unveiled its Year in Search 2025 for India, revealing the most talked-about topics, trends, and moments that captured the nation’s attention. The Indian Premier League topped the chart as the most trending search of the year, reflecting India’s deep-rooted passion for cricket. In a surprising development, Google’s AI chatbot Gemini secured the second position, showing rising public interest in artificial intelligence. Other cricket-related events such as the Asia Cup, ICC Champions Trophy, and Women’s World Cup also featured in the Top 10 searches. Along with these, cultural and social events like Maha Kumbh Mela, along with searches related to Saiyaara and Dharmendra, gained significant traction.
In the technology space, Gemini led the AI-related searches in India, followed by Deepseek, Perplexity, and Elon Musk’s Grok, while ChatGPT ranked seventh. The viral Ghibli art trend also made its presence felt in the Top 10. In the entertainment category, films such as Saiyaara, Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1, Coolie, War 2, and Sanam Teri Kasam saw the highest search interest. On the television front, Squid Game, Panchayat, Bigg Boss, The Bads of Bollywood, and Paatal Lok turned out to be the most searched TV shows, indicating the growing influence of global and regional content on Indian audiences.
