NASA and SpaceX have announced that the launch of the Crew-12 mission to the International Space Station has been postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions expected on February 11. The mission is now scheduled to launch no earlier than February 12 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The four-member crew — NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev — remain in quarantine at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center as they await the next suitable launch opportunity.
Crew-12 marks NASA’s 12th operational crew rotation mission to the ISS and will support scientific research crucial for future Moon and Mars exploration. The astronauts will travel aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, launched on a Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40. The reusable Falcon 9 features a nine-engine first stage and a Merlin Vacuum-powered second stage to carry the spacecraft into orbit. Once docked with the ISS, the crew will conduct long-duration experiments before returning to Earth via a controlled ocean splashdown.
