Good News for WhatsApp Users.. You Can Now Pay Bills Directly on WhatsApp!

WhatsApp is expanding its digital payment services in India by introducing utility bill payments within the messaging app. Users will be able to pay electricity, gas and water bills without opening a separate application. The service also supports payments such as FASTag recharges, insurance premiums, credit card bills and loan EMIs. It works through the Bharat Bill Payment System network and supports thousands of billers across multiple categories.

To pay a bill, users need to open WhatsApp, tap the rupee icon, select the bill payment option and choose the type of bill they want to pay. After entering the required bill number, the payment can be completed using a UPI PIN. Payments can also be made using credit and debit cards. Users will reportedly be able to check previously paid bills as well as upcoming bills through the service. The feature is being rolled out in phases for Android and iOS users in India.
