Microsoft has rolled out one of its biggest updates yet for Copilot, aiming to make the AI assistant feel more personal, interactive, and intelligent. Announced during the company’s Fall Update event, the new version introduces several exciting features including a visual avatar named “Mico”, Group chats, and health-focused capabilities. The highlight of the update is Mico, a friendly character that represents Copilot visually. Mico reacts with expressions, gestures, and color changes during voice chats, designed to make conversations feel empathetic and human-like.Microsoft also introduced a “Real Talk” mode, where Copilot gently questions user assumptions and adapts to their tone — offering a more natural, back-and-forth style of discussion.
Another major addition is Groups, which turns Copilot into a collaborative workspace. Users can now invite up to 32 participants into a single chat session, allowing the AI to summarize discussions, split tasks, tally votes, and help everyone stay aligned. The company has also made huge progress in memory and personalization. Copilot can now remember user details over time, reference past conversations, and even connect with external services like OneDrive, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, and Calendar. This means users can quickly find emails, files, and events without switching apps.Health enthusiasts get something new too — Copilot for Health. This mode grounds all responses in credible sources like Harvard Health and can even help match users with relevant doctors based on their location, specialty, and language.
For students and learners, Microsoft unveiled Learn Live, a voice-enabled teaching mode that uses Socratic questioning, visual guides, and interactive whiteboards to promote deeper understanding instead of just giving direct answers.
Microsoft says the goal is to make Copilot “more personal, more useful, and more connected to people and the world around them.”
