Apple is restructuring its business priorities amid growing competition in artificial intelligence and challenging market conditions. As part of an internal reorganisation aimed at improving its products and services, the technology giant has decided to cut around 200 jobs across its Siri, Vision Pro immersive video and gaming teams. Around 100 employees are reportedly affected in the Vision Pro division, while another 100 positions are being eliminated across Siri and software teams. Apple said some existing roles are being discontinued in line with its changing priorities, while new opportunities are being created in other areas. The company also said it would provide necessary support to affected employees.
The restructuring comes as Apple reassesses its Vision Pro strategy following weaker-than-expected consumer demand for the $3,699 headset. The company is looking to reduce the cost of producing expensive 3D immersive video content and scale back its Vision Pro gaming operations by relying more on third-party developers. At the same time, Apple is preparing to rebuild Siri around a modern architecture and new AI models, with plans to bring in more AI specialists. While the changes have raised questions about Vision Pro’s future, Apple has confirmed that visionOS will continue. The company is also exploring smart-glasses-based devices and is reportedly targeting a new Vision Pro model by 2028.
