Google Chrome 147 stable version has been officially released for Windows, macOS, and Linux users. This latest update introduces several refinements, bug fixes, and enhanced developer capabilities to improve overall browser performance and security. The release continues Chrome’s focus on strengthening user protection while offering modern web development tools.
A key highlight of Chrome 147 is the introduction of stricter Local Network Access (LNA) restrictions. WebSocket connections to local addresses will now trigger permission prompts to prevent potential security risks. Additionally, LNA restrictions are extended to WebTransport usage and Service Workers via WindowClient.navigate() calls, reducing the chances of local network fingerprinting and attacks.
On the feature side, Chrome 147 brings the new Web Printing API for better printer integration in web apps. Developers also get access to CSS border-shape, contrast-color(), and new JavaScript features, along with WebXR Layers and Plane Detection. Lazy loading for audio and video elements is introduced as a trial feature to improve page speed. Furthermore, WebNN has been upgraded to an origin trial, enabling advanced machine learning capabilities using system level hardware acceleration.
