Another Space Technology Milestone for Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based space startups are making significant progress in research and innovation. TakeMe2Space, a Hyderabad space startup, has developed the satellite battery ‘PowerBank-50’, which was used in Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 orbital rocket, India’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle. The company announced that the battery has successfully operated in space and has become a “space-proven” satellite battery pack.

The PowerBank-50 successfully supplied power to an experimental payload developed by Cosmoserve Space in a 450-km orbit above Earth. The battery reportedly withstood intense launch vibrations, radiation, vacuum conditions and extreme temperature variations without any issues. Built with high-density lithium-ion cells, the battery stores more than 50 Wh of energy and weighs only 380 grams. Designed for small satellites, it can operate for up to five years in Low Earth Orbit and is priced lower compared to imported alternatives.
