Slack has officially rolled out its new agentic AI-powered Slackbot after a year of development. First announced in October 2025, the upgraded Slackbot transforms Slack into a conversational AI platform that allows users to access organisational knowledge and automate tasks using simple queries.
The new Slackbot is being released in phases starting January 13 for Business+ and Enterprise+ subscribers, with global availability expected through January and February. Unlike the earlier basic version, the upgraded Slackbot now acts as a personal AI agent that uses an organisation’s internal conversations, channels, and group data to provide contextual and accurate responses. Powered by Salesforce’s Agentforce 360 platform, Slackbot can answer questions, organise work, generate content, schedule meetings, and perform actions directly within Slack. It can also connect to Salesforce systems and third-party enterprise tools, enabling seamless access to company data.
At launch, Slackbot supports integrations with platforms such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Confluence, Jira, Box, Microsoft Teams, Asana, GitHub and Dropbox. Slack confirmed that it does not train its AI models on customer data. Instead, it uses retrieval-augmented generation to securely access only the information required for each request. Several organisations, including Beast Industries, reMarkable, Xero, Mercari, Engine and Slalom, have already begun using the new Slackbot, with Salesforce also deploying it internally.
