Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced a historic knock in the Under-19 World Cup final at Harare, rewriting multiple world records with a breathtaking innings against England. The young Indian batter smashed 175 runs off just 80 balls, lacing his innings with 15 fours and 15 sixes, leaving the English bowling attack helpless. His astonishing strike rate of 218.75 stood out as a rare feat in a high-pressure ODI final.
With this knock, Vaibhav shattered several long-standing records in U19 World Cup history. He registered the fastest century in a U19 World Cup final, reaching the milestone in just 55 balls, and surpassed Unmukt Chand’s previous highest final score. At just 14 years of age, he became the youngest player to score a century in a World Cup final and also recorded the fastest 150 in U19 ODIs, reaching the mark in 71 balls. Already part of the Rajasthan Royals setup in the IPL, Vaibhav is being hailed by experts as a future star capable of following in the footsteps of India’s modern-day batting greats.
