Sensation on the Opening Day of The Hundred League

The 2026 edition of The Hundred League has begun in England with an exciting start. Mumbai Indians London and Sunrisers Leeds enjoyed winning starts in the men's and women's competitions respectively. The tournament, known for its fast paced 100 ball format, once again attracted the attention of cricket fans across the world.

In the men's match, Mumbai Indians London defeated Sunrisers Leeds by seven wickets. Batting first, Sunrisers Leeds were bowled out for 143 in 99 balls, with Mitchell Marsh scoring 41 and Tom Alsop adding 31 runs. Richard Gleeson starred with four wickets, while Sam Curran claimed two. Chasing 144, Mumbai reached the target in just 84 balls, thanks to unbeaten half-centuries from captain Sam Curran (60*) and Nicholas Pooran (58*).

In the women's competition, Sunrisers Leeds defeated Mumbai Indians London by seven wickets. Mumbai posted 107/8 in 100 balls, with Hayley Matthews scoring 33 and Danni Wyatt contributing 29 runs. Deepti Sharma and Danielle Gibson picked up two wickets each. In reply, Sunrisers chased the target in just 69 balls, powered by Phoebe Litchfield's 43 and Annabel Sutherland's 30. This marked the first time in cricket history that the two franchises defeated each other simultaneously in different divisions of the same tournament.
