US Open: Sabalenka, Rybakina Set Up Blockbuster Women’s Singles Final

The US Open women’s singles tournament has reached its final stage, with top seed Aryna Sabalenka and second seed Elena Rybakina setting up a blockbuster title clash. Defending champion Sabalenka defeated third seed Jessica Pegula 7-5, 6-2 to extend her winning streak at the US Open to 19 matches. She produced seven aces and 29 winners while breaking Pegula’s serve three times. After a closely fought opening set, Sabalenka took control in the second and sealed a convincing victory with her powerful forehand.

Rybakina, meanwhile, defeated fourth seed Coco Gauff 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a thrilling comeback. Gauff dominated the opening set, but Rybakina fought back strongly and secured crucial breaks in the second and third sets to complete the victory. The result puts Rybakina into her fourth Grand Slam final. She is also set to become the first Kazakh woman to reach the WTA world No.1 ranking when the new rankings are released on Monday. Sabalenka and Rybakina have previously met in two Grand Slam finals, with each player winning once. In the women’s doubles final, top seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend defeated Americans Anna Krueger and Tyra Grant 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 to claim the title.
