The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a staggering cash reward of ₹131 crore for the Indian cricket team following their historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2026. By successfully defending their title against New Zealand in the final held in Ahmedabad, India became the first team to retain the trophy and the first to win it three times.
According to reports, the ₹131 crore prize money—which is a ₹6 crore increase from the 2024 reward—will be distributed among the 15-member squad, coaching staff, and support personnel. Each player in the 15-man squad is expected to receive ₹6 crore, while the remaining ₹41 crore will be allocated to the coaching staff, including Head Coach Gautam Gambhir, and other support staff based on their roles and seniority.
In addition to the massive BCCI bonus, the Indian team also earned a tournament prize of approximately ₹27.48 crore ($3 million) from the International Cricket Council (ICC). BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, while confirming the reward, lauded the team’s exceptional performance under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav and the guidance of the coaching staff. This record-breaking payout reflects the board's appreciation for the team’s dominance in the shortest format and their achievement of becoming the most successful side in T20 World Cup history.
