Immediately following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, IPL 2026 is gearing up to offer cricket fans another massive dose of entertainment. With the league set to commence on the 28th of this month, the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore, will face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match. The BCCI has, so far, announced the schedule for only the first 20 matches. Taking into account state elections and prevailing international conditions, the schedule for the remaining matches will be finalized shortly.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni's future has also become a major topic of discussion this season. Given that he is now 44 years old, former cricketers opine that this could potentially be Dhoni's final IPL campaign. On the other hand, despite some lingering doubts surrounding the tournament amidst tensions in West Asia, the BCCI has clarified that the event will proceed exactly as scheduled. Another intriguing highlight of this season is the fact that Riyan Parag will be leading the Rajasthan Royals squad as captain.
