Whenever the festive season arrives, Tollywood witnesses intense competition over movie release dates and theatre allocations. The rivalry among star heroes becomes particularly fierce during Sankranti. However, Tamil actors Suriya and Dhanush have shown that the interests of the film industry should take priority over box-office calculations and personal considerations. Dhanush initially planned to release his home production, Om: Chapter 1, on October 16. However, since Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 was scheduled for release a day earlier, he postponed his film. Later, when Suriya's Seen was set to hit theatres on November 6, Dhanush decided to give up that date as well.
To avoid creating any inconvenience for his fellow actor's film, Dhanush shifted his movie's release to November 20. Suriya appreciated this gesture and publicly thanked Dhanush during his film's audio and trailer event for making way for his release. Meanwhile, in Tollywood, several leading actors continue to compete for the same Sankranti release window every year, sometimes putting producers under financial pressure. The decision taken by Suriya and Dhanush sends a message about avoiding unnecessary competition and respecting one another's films. Their gesture has once again raised a question: when will Tollywood's star heroes adopt a similar approach?
