Sri Lanka XI made India’s bowlers work hard on the opening day of the three-day warm-up match in Colombo, finishing at 363/8 after 90 overs. The hosts’ batters showed good discipline and countered the Indian attack effectively. Openers Ravindu Rasantha and Nishan Madushka provided a solid start, scoring 71 and 66 respectively. Captain Sonal Dinusha then added a valuable 52 to keep the scoreboard moving.
India used seven bowlers during the day, with the spinners leading the fightback. Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Manav Suthar picked up two wickets each. Despite taking wickets at regular intervals later in the innings, India could not prevent Sri Lanka XI from crossing the 350-run mark. Keshara Nuwantha was unbeaten on 9, while Dilum Sudeera was not out on 1 at stumps.
