India Crowned Women’s Asia Cup Champions, Beat Sri Lanka in Style

India have won the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 title after defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final. Chasing a target of 184, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 111 in exactly 20 overs. Captain Chamari Athapaththu was the top scorer with 36 runs, while Nilakshika scored 22 and Vishmi Gunaratne made 20. India’s Telugu star Shree Charani starred with four wickets for 20 runs, while Deepti Sharma claimed 3/19. Kranti Gaud, Shafali Verma and Prema Rawat took one wicket each.

Earlier, India opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted 183/5 in 20 overs. Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana led the charge with impressive half-centuries, scoring 68 and 59 respectively. The duo added 129 runs for the opening wicket off 77 balls. Richa Ghosh scored 17 and Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 14. For Sri Lanka, Mithali Ayodhya, Chamari Athapaththu and Prabodhaa took one wicket each. With this victory, India avenged their 2024 final defeat and secured their eighth Women’s Asia Cup title.
