The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has officially launched the TG T20 League, with the logo unveiled at a grand event held at Park Hyatt, Hyderabad. The ceremony was attended by Justice Naveen Rao, along with former cricketers Venkatesh Prasad, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, and Ambati Rayudu, as well as Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand. Modeled on the lines of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the TG T20 League aims to provide a strong platform for emerging cricket talent in Telangana.
The tournament is scheduled to take place during June and July at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, with eight teams set to compete. Around 40 prominent companies are vying for ownership of these franchises, indicating strong commercial interest. Speaking at the event, Justice Naveen Rao described the initiative as a “great idea,” while Ambati Rayudu highlighted the HCA’s 94-year legacy and urged the Sunrisers Hyderabad to consider including more local players in the IPL setup.
