The selection of pacer Harshit Rana in India's squads for the England T20 series and the upcoming Asian Games has sparked significant debate. Former Indian cricketer Sadagoppan Ramesh questioned the decision, pointing out that Rana has not played a single domestic match since recovering from knee surgery. He argued that the selection appears inconsistent with the fitness and selection policies followed by the BCCI in the past.
Ramesh noted that several players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Shreyas Iyer, had to prove their fitness through domestic cricket before returning to the national side. He questioned why similar standards were not applied in Harshit Rana's case. The controversy has led to discussions within cricket circles, with many awaiting an official response from the BCCI selection committee.
