The possibility of another presentation-ceremony discussion has emerged ahead of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams recently declined to receive their Asia Cup trophies from Mohsin Naqvi, who is the Asian Cricket Council chairman and Pakistan’s interior minister. The development has led to questions about what could happen if Naqvi is involved in a medal ceremony at the Asian Games.
Under Article 66 of the Olympic Council of Asia’s rules, medals at the OCA Games are presented by the OCA president, who can delegate the responsibility to another OCA member. The rules also prohibit demonstrations or political, religious or commercial propaganda during victory ceremonies. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has said that India’s immediate focus is on winning matches and that any decision regarding the medal ceremony will be taken after considering the circumstances at that time.
