Story:
Eera Babu, also known as Veeru, returns from the USA to his village to marry his childhood love. However, he soon learns that she is getting married to someone else. Heartbroken, he gets drunk and spends a night near a deserted fort in the village. This leads him into a mysterious journey involving the secrets of the fort, strange occurrences, and hidden truths behind the beliefs of the villagers.
Plus Points:
The film has a few entertaining comedy portions, especially in the second half. Sangeeth Sobhan impresses with his natural performance and comic timing, which stands out as a major strength. Getup Srinu and Vennela Kishore manage to bring some laughs in parts. The adventure episode set in the fort during the second half is visually appealing and engaging. Production values and set design also add to the film’s positives.
Minus Points:
The biggest drawback is the lack of freshness in the storyline. The first half feels dull and fails to engage the audience effectively. Many comedy scenes appear forced and do not land well. The climax turns out to be disappointing due to the predictable and overused backstory. The loud background score in several scenes becomes distracting.
Technical Aspects:
Technically, the film delivers a mixed outcome. Cinematography is good, especially in the second half sequences. The art department deserves appreciation for the fort set and props. Editing is decent but could have been tighter in the first half. Music is below expectations and does not elevate the film much. Production values are decent.
Verdict:
“Raakaasa” offers a few laughs here and there but ultimately ends up as a routine comedy fantasy with a predictable narrative. It may appeal to those who enjoy light entertainment, but it lacks the freshness needed to stand out.
Rating: 2.5/5
