A court in Guntur has remanded YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy to 14 days of judicial custody following his arrest in connection with post-poll unrest at Vengalayapalem. Nallapadu police registered a case over the incident and took him into custody. After undergoing a medical examination at Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) on Friday evening, Appi Reddy was produced before the court. The judge subsequently ordered 14 days of judicial remand.
The incident occurred after polling at Vengalayapalem, when Appi Reddy and other YSRCP leaders allegedly obstructed election staff from taking away a ballot box. The confrontation led to tension in the area and caused a major traffic jam on the Guntur–Nallapadu road. Police personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control and took Appi Reddy into custody. Further proceedings in the case are expected to follow.
