The uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has finally eased. After personally meeting him inside the Adiala Jail, his sister Uzma Khanum confirmed that Imran is completely safe and alive, bringing much-needed relief to his supporters. However, the family’s claim that he is being subjected to psychological torture inside the prison has sparked fresh tension. Large-scale protests erupted across Islamabad and several other regions demanding permission to meet him, prompting jail authorities to finally allow Uzma and a lawyer to visit him on Tuesday.
Rumors about Imran Khan’s health had intensified over the past week. Allegations by his three sisters—Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan—that they were attacked near the prison, along with worrying statements from his sons, fueled public anxiety. PTI workers staged massive demonstrations accusing jail officials of hiding critical information about Imran’s condition. Although Uzma’s confirmation that “Imran is safe” has put the death rumors to rest, concerns about his health and the treatment he is receiving behind bars still remain unresolved.
