Bollywood filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s highly ambitious mythological epic ‘Ramayana’ is currently progressing at a rapid pace. The dream project stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Kannada star Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, Ravi Dubey portrays Lakshmana, Rakul Preet Singh appears as Shurpanakha and Kajal Aggarwal plays Mandodari. Produced by Namit Malhotra on a massive budget, the film is currently being shot extensively.

A latest report about the much awaited project is creating buzz on social media. Sanya Malhotra, who gained recognition with ‘Dangal’, is reportedly set to appear in a key role as Ahalya. According to the reports, she will portray Ahalya, who turns into stone due to a curse and is later freed when Lord Rama touches her with his feet. Although the sequence is said to be only around five minutes long, it holds significant importance in the story. Nitesh Tiwari is reportedly said to have specifically chosen Sanya for the role, with the sequence expected to be one of the film’s major highlights.
