During the speech of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, a major uproar ensued. While speaking on the motion of thanks to the President's address, he referred to a passage from the unpublished autobiography of former Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane, mentioning the India-China border dispute. The ruling party objected to this, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh questioning the reference, stating that the book had not yet been released and that mentioning its contents in the House was against the rules. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also supported this view, leading to protests from the opposition members.
On this occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the remarks Rahul Gandhi referred to were from a magazine, not a book. However, Rahul Gandhi stood by his statement, clarifying that the remarks were from a credible source. He accused the government of avoiding a discussion on the China issue. Rahul reminded the House that Naravane's autobiography, 'Four Stars of Destiny', mentions the lack of clear instructions from the political and military leadership during the incidents in Ladakh. These developments led to a heated argument in the House, creating a tense atmosphere for some time.
