Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha made controversial remarks while addressing workers during her visit to the RK-7 underground mine in Mancherial district as part of the "Boyi Bata" programme. She said that when Maoists were active in forest regions, Singareni officials worked more responsibly, and alleged that the management now feels there is no one to question them. She further remarked that those "brothers" are now with her party and warned against troubling workers.
During her visit, Kavitha attempted to interact with Singareni workers near the mine. A brief confrontation occurred after staff reportedly tried to stop her from entering the premises, following which she and her supporters entered the area. She accused the Singareni management of neglecting workers' welfare, causing losses in profit-sharing benefits, and failing to provide adequate facilities for women employees. She also demanded the expansion of underground mining operations.
Kavitha's comments have generated political discussion across the state. The remarks gained further attention because she had recently visited former Maoist leader Tippiri Tirupati alias Dev Ji, who had surrendered and rejoined public life after spending nearly 40 years underground. With reports suggesting that some former Maoist leaders may enter active politics, her latest comments have become a major topic of debate in Telangana's political circles.
