Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that trust has become India’s strongest currency, with the world viewing the country as a reliable partner for growth. Addressing the Indian diaspora in Kuala Lumpur during his two-day visit to Malaysia, he noted that this confidence is reflected in India’s trade and strategic agreements with countries such as the UK, UAE, the US, Australia, New Zealand and the European Union.
Describing India–Malaysia ties as a partnership for shared transformation, Modi said both nations are moving forward hand in hand. He highlighted cultural and linguistic connections, especially the deep roots of the Indian community in Malaysia, and praised their role as a bridge between the two countries. Referring to his long-standing friendship with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Modi spoke about the global significance of the Tamil language and literature.
The Prime Minister also announced the expansion of Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards to sixth-generation members of the Indian diaspora. He said India’s success would also contribute to Malaysia’s and Asia’s progress. Modi received a grand welcome in Malaysia, including a cultural performance by hundreds of artists that entered the Malaysia Book of Records. The two leaders are expected to hold detailed talks and sign agreements on Sunday, further strengthening bilateral relations.
