Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is set to create history by becoming the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of the state. According to party sources, the NCP Parliamentary Board is scheduled to meet in Mumbai, where Sunetra Pawar will be elected as the leader of the legislative party. Following this, she is expected to take oath as Deputy Chief Minister later in the day.
Currently serving as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Sunetra Pawar’s elevation is being viewed as a significant political development within the NCP and Maharashtra politics. Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar is likely to contest the upcoming by-elections from the Baramati Assembly constituency. Party leaders believe this move will further strengthen the party’s leadership structure and political presence in the state.
