The YSR Congress has been banking on the idea that BJP at the Centre will support them or remain their ally in upcoming elections. This hope has often been a topic of discussion within the party. Hence, YSRCP leaders frequently criticize TDP leaders in the state, yet they have never openly attacked the BJP government at the Centre. Even though there were some differences in the last elections, the belief that BJP would support them has largely restrained YSRCP from criticizing the Centre.
However, analysts now believe that Jagan must let go of these hopes on BJP. Politics is never static, and leaders evolve with circumstances. The senior BJP leadership at the Centre has also realized that not aligning with the coalition could create issues for them in Andhra Pradesh.
Till now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has never directly criticized Jagan, but recently he explicitly directed BJP MPs to take firm action, respond decisively to Jagan’s criticisms, and not hold back. This makes BJP’s stance on YSRCP crystal clear. Analysts suggest that with the Centre taking such a firm stand, Jagan may have to relinquish any remaining hopes on BJP’s support.
