The counting of votes for the MPTC and ZPTC elections in Andhra Pradesh will begin at 8 AM today, November 7. Officials have completed arrangements at 365 counting centres across the state. Postal ballots will be counted first, followed by regular ballot papers. A total of 9,062 counting tables have been set up, with approximately 39,694 staff members deployed for the process. Each table is expected to handle around 1,000 ballot papers.
Andhra Pradesh has a total of 9,821 MPTC seats and 659 ZPTC seats. Of these, 2,051 MPTC seats and 77 ZPTC seats were elected unanimously, while candidates contested the remaining seats. The political fate of 21,012 candidates will be decided today. Repolling has also been completed at seven polling stations across five districts. To ensure peaceful counting, police have arranged three-tier security at all 365 centres, deploying around 40,000 personnel statewide. Sensitive locations are being monitored through CCTV cameras, drones and body-worn cameras to prevent any untoward incidents.
