The Telangana High Court has refused to grant a stay on the upcoming Panchayat elections. Several backward community associations filed a petition challenging Government Order 46 related to reservation allotments in the elections.
The petitioners argued that the Most Backward Classes (MBCs) are not receiving adequate reservation and requested that reservations be allocated based on the A, B, C, and D categories within the BC groups.
After reviewing the matter, the High Court stated that since the election process has already begun, imposing a stay at this stage would not be appropriate. The court questioned why the petition was filed only after the notification was issued.
The court directed the government to file a counter and adjourned the next hearing for eight weeks.
