Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee faced a major political setback as a rebel faction claimed she has been removed from the party president post. The rebel group also stated that several leaders, including former Kolkata Mayor Farhad Hakim, have joined their camp, according to leader Ritabrata Banerjee.
A large meeting held in New Town, Kolkata, was attended by around 500 district leaders, councillors, and senior members. The rebel faction announced a new 30-member national working committee, appointing Arup Roy as chairperson. They declared themselves the “real TMC” and said the decision would be communicated to the Election Commission.
