MLA Raja Singh appreciated the police for arresting those allegedly involved in spice adulteration but stressed that stronger legal provisions are needed to effectively curb such offences. He stated that many accused are securing station bail under the existing legal sections, reducing the deterrent effect of law enforcement.
Raja Singh urged the Telangana government to invoke the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against habitual adulteration offenders and make their identities public to create awareness among consumers. He also called for strict action against those allegedly selling counterfeit electrical wires in Koti and duplicate mobile phones in Jagadish Market, Hyderabad. He appealed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to discuss the issue in the Assembly and introduce stricter legal provisions.
