The Telangana Cabinet has decided to convene a special session of the State Legislative Assembly during the last week of this month to discuss the Kaleshwaram project. The two-day session is aimed at countering the allegations made by the BRS regarding the diversion of water from the Medigadda Barrage. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed ministers to visit various irrigation projects along with their respective MLAs and explain the facts to the public. Ministers from the erstwhile Karimnagar district have been asked to visit the Medigadda Barrage, while ministers from the respective districts will inspect the Devadula and Sitarama projects.
During the visits, ministers are expected to explain the obstacles affecting water diversion from Medigadda and highlight the record-level transfer of Godavari water through the Devadula project. The Cabinet has also approved the creation of 886 new posts in the Municipal Administration Department. In another key decision, the government will launch the Rs. 5 lakh Indiramma Life Insurance scheme in Siddipet on the 19th of this month. These decisions were taken as part of the state government's plans to address irrigation-related concerns and strengthen public welfare initiatives.
