The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance has registered a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh's municipal elections, with effective coordination and vote transfer among the partners emerging as key factors. The alliance won 12 of the 13 municipal corporations in the state. Of the 87 municipalities, chairperson posts in 17 were elected unanimously, while polling was held in the remaining 70. Counting was completed in all municipalities except Chirala, with the alliance securing victories in 66 of them. Although seat-sharing negotiations between the TDP and Jana Sena initially faced hurdles, discussions between Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan helped resolve the differences. The BJP was also accommodated in several constituencies, while coordination committees were formed at the constituency level to ensure cooperation among the alliance partners.
The alliance's success was reflected in the way party leaders and grassroots workers campaigned together. In Vijayawada, Jana Sena candidate Vangaveeti Radha Krishna secured a victory with a margin of over 1.3 lakh votes, highlighting the transfer of TDP votes to the alliance partner. In Anantapur, however, BJP candidate Ajesh Babu lost to the YSRCP candidate, though the alliance put up a strong contest. TDP leaders and cadre also played a significant role in the victories of Jana Sena candidates in Salur, Mummidivaram, Tiruvuru, Pedana, Puttur, Madakasira and Puttaparthi. The BJP also benefited from coordinated efforts by workers of all three parties in the municipalities it won. The results underline the impact of alliance unity, grassroots coordination and the transfer of votes among partners, along with public support for the government's policies.
