Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud clarified that the High Court verdict on the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission report does not obstruct further investigation into alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project or any potential CBI probe. He stated that the court only observed procedural lapses in giving adequate opportunity to the accused to present their arguments and directed that no immediate action should be taken based solely on the report. However, he emphasized that no one has been declared innocent, and the judgment offers only temporary relief to those accused.
He further alleged that the commission report, along with findings from the state Vigilance Commission and the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), clearly points to irregularities and structural issues in the project. Mahesh Kumar Goud said the High Court did not exonerate anyone or deny corruption charges. He asserted that the verdict does not prevent further inquiry or a CBI investigation. He warned that if the Centre does not initiate a CBI probe, the state government may consider strong measures, including protests in Delhi, and urged Union Minister Kishan Reddy to pressure the Centre for immediate action.
