Illegal encroachments in the Mangalampet forest region have come to light, prompting Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to review the area personally by helicopter. His inspection has brought statewide attention to the issue. Around 76.74 acres of forest land - allegedly linked to former Forest Minister and YSRCP leader Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy’s family were found to be under illegal occupation. A detailed video documenting this was released by the Deputy CM’s office, creating a major stir.
Pawan Kalyan also conducted a detailed teleconference review with senior forest officials regarding nearly 104 acres of disputed forest land. He questioned how private ownership could exist in the middle of notified forest areas and instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive report on how the land changed hands over the years and who was responsible.
He further pointed out discrepancies in records: while registration documents mention 45.80 acres, Webland records show 77.54 acres, indicating possible manipulation.
Forest officials stated that a Preliminary Offense Report (POR) and charge sheet have already been filed. They also confirmed that the encroachments have been removed, the forest land reclaimed, and case details submitted to the court.
Pawan Kalyan reaffirmed, Anyone who exploits public resources or damages natural assets will face strict action. Political influence won’t protect those who plunder forest lands.
