Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh said that the filing of more than 22,800 nominations in municipalities demonstrates that the local body elections in the state are being conducted democratically. He noted that candidates from different sections of society, political parties and regions have come forward to contest the elections. He urged those raising allegations about the electoral process before voting has even begun to take note of the participation.
Lokesh said that election outcomes are determined by the people, not by press conferences. His remarks appeared to be an indirect response to criticism from YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He stressed that political leaders should approach voters and present their arguments before the public, adding that the ultimate verdict rests with the people.
