An air ambulance travelling from Agartala to Kolkata was diverted to Dhaka, Bangladesh, following a technical malfunction that reportedly caused the aircraft’s door to partially open. The aircraft was carrying 56 year old Anjana Bhowmik, who was seriously ill and being shifted to Kolkata for medical treatment. Due to the technical issue, the crew made an emergency landing in Dhaka.
After landing, Anjana was taken to a government hospital in Bangladesh, where doctors declared her dead. The exact cause of her death remains unknown, and it is yet to be established whether it was connected to the emergency landing. Bangladeshi media reports said the authorities allowed the Indian aircraft to land on humanitarian grounds, despite the reported absence of prior emergency landing permission.
