Minister Parthasarathi Alleges Large-Scale Irregularities Under Previous YSRCP Government

Andhra Pradesh Minister Parthasarathi has alleged that the previous YSRCP government turned several government systems into centres of corruption and claimed that irregularities took place in the liquor policy during the previous administration. Referring to the ongoing liquor case and former Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) official D. Satya Prasad, who has sought to become an approver, Parthasarathi alleged that the policy was designed in a manner that benefited certain individuals. He also alleged that digital payments were not permitted for liquor purchases and claimed that the alleged irregularities resulted in substantial financial gains for those involved. Court records show that the liquor-policy case concerns alleged irregularities in procurement and supply processes between 2019 and 2024, while Satya Prasad’s application to become an approver has been allowed in the case.

Parthasarathi further alleged that the liquor-related irregularities had their origins at the then Chief Minister’s residence and claimed that ₹3,200 crore was involved in the alleged scam. He also accused the previous administration of failing to prevent the sale of adulterated liquor and alleged that people lost their lives as a result. The minister criticised the YSRCP for questioning the credibility of people who bring the alleged irregularities to light. However, these statements are political allegations, and the YSRCP has rejected the liquor-scam allegations, with former minister Perni Venkataramaiah questioning the evidence and the investigation. The matter remains under investigation and the allegations against individuals will ultimately be subject to the findings of the investigating agencies and courts.
