Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has strongly condemned the alleged attack by BJP workers on the residence of her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. Accusing the BJP of using bulldozers against those who oppose it, she challenged the party to direct all its bulldozers towards her. “How many bulldozers do you have? Come, I am standing right here. Run them over me. I want to see how courageous you are,” she said. Mamata made these remarks after visiting Abhishek at his residence to enquire about his well-being.
Mamata also alleged that the BJP was targeting Trinamool Congress leaders and disrupting the Kali Puja celebrations that have been held in the Kalighat area for years. She claimed that permissions for conducting the festivities had been cancelled in several locations, while some organisers were allowed to hold pujas on major roads. Questioning the reasons behind these changes, she criticised the authorities. Earlier, on Saturday morning, Abhishek Banerjee had alleged that BJP workers attacked his residence in Kalighat with stones and bricks.
