West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks regarding President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the state. She alleged that the BJP was trying to use the President’s office for political purposes.
Banerjee stated that her government respects the President and denied any deliberate breach of protocol. She also said that such issues should not be turned into political controversies, especially during an election period.
The row began after criticism from the Centre over arrangements during the President’s visit to a tribal event in West Bengal. The exchange has now intensified political tensions between the Centre and the state government.
