The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has long been recognised for its strong organisational structure and disciplined cadre, a key factor behind its dominance among regional parties in the Telugu states. This organisational strength grew further under Nara Lokesh, who led a massive membership expansion, successfully adding more than one crore members to the TDP. This transformed the party’s grassroots network and strengthened its political position significantly.
Now, it appears that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana is preparing to follow a similar roadmap.
BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao announced that the party will begin a large-scale membership registration programme soon after the upcoming Sarpanch elections. He also revealed that the focus will be on establishing a stronger organisational structure across all levels.
According to KTR, new committees will soon be formed at every tier — booth, village, mandal, municipality, constituency, district, and state — including all frontal wings of the party. The goal is to ensure deeper coordination at the grassroots level.
This approach mirrors the same formula adopted by Lokesh to revamp TDP from the bottom-up. The political observation is that BRS is now adopting a similar strategy to rebuild and energise its cadre base in Telangana.
