The coalition government has declared the Kanyakaparameshwari Amavari Samarpa Day as a state festival, signaling its respect for the Arya Vysya community. “Preparations are underway to celebrate the Amavari Samarpa Day at Kanyakaparameshwari temples across the state on January 20,” said Arya Vysya Corporation Chairman Doondi Rakesh while speaking to reporters at the TDP central office on Saturday. He added that in the first year of the coalition government, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the offering of sacred robes to the deity at Kanyakaparameshwari temple in Penugonda, East Godavari district.
Out of the 25 state festivals declared by the coalition government, three are dedicated to the Arya Vysya community, reflecting the government’s recognition and honor towards them. Chairman Doondi Rakesh also shared that land has been allocated near Amaravati for a memorial in memory of Potti Sreeramulu. On March 16, a 58-foot statue will be unveiled to mark the 58-day fast undertaken by Potti Sreeramulu. Additionally, the government has issued a GO renaming Penugonda village as Vasavi Penugonda, further commemorating the community’s heritage.
