Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have always shared a brotherly bond and should continue to stand together. He said that when Telangana was severely hit by the cyclone, they treated it purely as a natural calamity and never blamed Andhra Pradesh. However, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan blaming “Telangana’s evil eye” for coconut trees drying up in Konaseema is irresponsible and raises questions about whether such remarks are sensible or completely irrational. He added that since the BJP is an alliance partner, the Telangana BJP leadership must respond, and the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister should also clarify the issue.
He further said it is unfortunate to make comments that create friction between the two states. When a cyclone hit Andhra Pradesh earlier, even Husnabad was flooded, yet Telangana never blamed the people of Andhra Pradesh. But attributing dried trees in Konaseema to Telangana’s evil eye is deeply insulting to the people of Telangana. Pawan Kalyan must immediately withdraw his remarks and apologize. As a Deputy Chief Minister, he should act responsibly and avoid discriminatory or divisive statements in the future. Both states must work together for the country’s development, and public representatives should be careful with their words to avoid inter-state conflict.
In the same context, MP Chamala Kiran Reddy criticized Pawan Kalyan, saying, “Pawan Kalyan, this is not a movie, and this is not a two-and-a-half-hour script for you to read and speak. You are talking as if you have forgotten that you are the Deputy Chief Minister. Saying that Konaseema suffered because of Telangana’s evil eye is wrong. Speak about the real issues affecting the region and stop making dramatic statements.”
