Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited the Medigadda barrage site to review the condition of the structure as part of efforts to restore the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He closely examined the damaged portions and reviewed ongoing geophysical and geotechnical investigations. Following the guidelines of the National Dam Safety Authority, the Chief Minister assessed various tests being conducted for restoration planning. At piers 20, 21, and 22, soil samples are being collected using bore rigs. Around 520 samples will be sent to the Central Water and Research Station for laboratory analysis to better understand the extent of damage.
Officials explained that drone-based GPR tests are being used to study soil conditions up to a depth of 20–30 meters. Additional seismic tests are also being conducted to evaluate the structural integrity of the barrage. After the inspection, the Chief Minister held a review meeting with ministers and senior officials, suggesting that restoration work should begin only after fully understanding the problem through test results. He emphasized following the guidelines of the National Dam Safety Authority at every stage.
He also stated that clarity is emerging on how to restore Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages effectively, and stressed the importance of expert involvement in the process.
Several ministers, officials, representatives of central agencies, and construction firms participated in the inspection and review.
