Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to intensify efforts for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Acting on the advice of legal experts, the government has decided to formally write to the CBI seeking an immediate investigation into the project. The Chief Minister also instructed ministers to secure an appointment with the CBI Director, if necessary, and personally submit a representation to expedite the process.
Legal experts clarified that there are currently no pending cases in any court regarding the Kaleshwaram issue, and hence, there are no legal hurdles for initiating a CBI inquiry. They also noted that the High Court has not invalidated the findings of the P.C. Ghose Commission, making its report legally valid. Following the recent High Court judgment, the Chief Minister held a high-level review meeting with Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and consulted senior Supreme Court lawyer Abhishek Singhvi to outline the next course of action. Several senior officials and leaders participated in the meeting via video conference.
